look into using backup/archive client manual :

COMPRESSAlways No/Yes

Yes :
File compression continues even if the file grows as a result of
compression. This is the default.

No :
The object is resent uncompressed, if it grows during
compression.

Examples
Options file: compressalways yes

so you need compressalways no int the client-option file

hmmm...

i have only set COMPRESSION=ON in the Option Set and the client dsm.opt
file.

whats the different in "compression always" and "compression=on" ?

another question:

we have a big disk pool, so i must compress the data, the diskcopy pool is a
adic faststore 4000
library, i think the library also tries to compress the data once more..

does a DLT drive check that the data is already compressed and dont compress
it once more,
or are the files getting bigger when the drive writes it to tape?

best regards
Wolfgang

Objects compressed by: -16% ?!?!?!

How can this be? There are many .zip Files on this Server.. but i thought
ADSM will check if a File is
already compressed and dont compress it again.

I am running on Client side 3.1.0.8 and Server 3.1.2.90
