Hi all, I have some strange behaviour on my Windows ME client (TSM v. 4.2.1.0). If I use the daily incremental backup to backup the registry, I got the following result:
Incremental backup of volume '\\WME\C$' Preparing System Object -> Registry ANS1898I ***** Processed 500 files ***** Directory--> 0 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys [Sent] Directory--> 0 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry [Sent] Directory--> 0 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME [Sent] Directory--> 0 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Machine [Sent] Directory--> 0 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Users [Sent] Normal File--> 8,192 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Machine\Config [Sent] Normal File--> 40,960 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Machine\Enum [Sent] Normal File--> 8,192 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Machine\Hardware [Sent] Normal File--> 8,192 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Machine\Network [Sent] Normal File--> 8,192 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Machine\Security [Sent] ANS1898I ***** Processed 1,000 files ***** ANS1898I ***** Processed 1,500 files ***** ANS1898I ***** Processed 2,500 files ***** Normal File--> 2,781,216 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Machine\Software [Sent] ANS1898I ***** Processed 4,500 files ***** Normal File--> 266,272 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Machine\System [Sent] Directory--> 0 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Users\administrator [Sent] Normal File--> 188,448 \\wme\c$\adsm95.sys\Registry\WME\Users\Default [Sent] Successful incremental backup of '\\wme\c$' Total number of objects inspected: 4,690 Total number of objects backed up: 14 Total number of objects updated: 0 Total number of objects rebound: 0 Total number of objects deleted: 0 Total number of objects expired: 0 Total number of objects failed: 0 Total number of bytes transferred: 3.15 MB Data transfer time: 5.27 sec Network data transfer rate: 613.40 KB/sec Aggregate data transfer rate: 181.10 KB/sec Objects compressed by: 0% Elapsed processing time: 00:00:17 I wonder why TSM is building the c:\adsm95.sys directory!!!!! Regarding the manual this should be adsm98.sys!!??!!?? The next problem is of course the restore. Trying to restore the registry (commando: "restore registry entire") will result with the following: Node Name: WINDOWSME Session established with server TSM: AIX-RS/6000 Server Version 4, Release 2, Level 1.0 Server date/time: 01/29/2002 13:21:55 Last access: 01/29/2002 13:17:19 ANS1302E No objects on server match query This means that a restore of the registry isnt possible!!!!!!!!!! And the funniest thing is, that TSM is building under the restore procedure a new (empty) directory called adsm98.sys with 2 other underdirectories (registry and registry.sav). The adsm95.sys directory contens only the registry folder. I tried to rename the adsm95.sys to adsm98.sys and start restore again. Didnt work! Does anybody know if there is an APAR on this? Or can anybody give me some hints how to solve this problem?? TIA Thomas
