Thad depends if you are talknig about AIX standard system backup or TSM
incermental backup

I assume you are talknig about AIX

you do it this way

smtty mksysb

this is a bootable system backup.

then you define this in TSM with this command "Define Recoverymedia"

if you dont want a bootable bakup you can use

savevg rootvg

example

savevg -if /dev/rmt0 rootvg

ps. remember that you can?t use TSM system backup on the same device

Subject: AIX system backup

Hi, Everyone. Can anyone help me how to configue the AIX system in order
to make backups of regular daily production jobs runnign on it? and how
to prepare vault movement? Should I treat the AIX system as a clien
node? I just got off the classes and don't have any practical idea.
Please help!

We are migrating from mainframe; VSE to AIX with Oracle. New system
will be in soon and I need to start from scratch!! HELP!! Thansk much.

Gus
