I am going over ESCON. I have an issue with TSM that I would watch TSM use
more and more CPU and actually do less and less. I found that stopping and
starting TSM on a weekly basis would get me past it. I have sent them dumps
and logs. They said to STOP draining my DISK pool to 0. SO I am trying
that. Anyway, my point is, try bringing TSM down and Up and check the
throughput then. It may also be worth your time to check and make sure that
TSM is in the proper Work Load Manager service class (of course that is only
an issue if the machine is running 100%).

ther are no other activ processes, no waits for mountpoints, the db looks
o.k., the throughput maybe is limited by ESCON.

My 80% full 25gb FULL DB backup takes 1hr 20 minutes on 9672-x57 going to a
9840 tape. What else is going on in your TSM system at the time?
Expiration processing slows it down quite a bit. Have you gone through the
normal steps of maximizing the throughput on your TSM system?

Dear *SM Gurus

The TSM DB Fullbackup (19GB) takes about 4 hours on OS/390 with VTS. I
haven't found any descriptions for parallelisation, eg. maxpr or mountp.
Is it in the tec. nature, the DB will be backed up in sequenz?
