doesn't matter if you can label the tape or not. You need to verify the availably, by taking database backup, backup, backup stg.
the label libvolume command is unaffected by the no mount point awilible. I have seen libraries witch you can label the tapes, but you cant mount for backup of any kind. hope this helps. Make sure you can use the device class you are referring to.
