For aix, I don't believe that TSM works that way...removing a filesystem
(all activity stops...)
is different in TSM's eyes than removing a file (file(s) change
to inactive...delete policies take effect, etc)(from what I've seen).
*
reminder...if you archive from that filesystem, then you may not
be able to remove it (retention of archive files...), but
keep in mind the rename option...
*
Thanks Tim

George,

Did a backup run between the time that the filesystem was removed
and the new file system created? I believe that when /inbound/site was
removed the data was lost. If a backup was run TSM would mark the data as
inactive. Now when your are try to restore to the new filesystem you should
be looking at inactive file not only inactive. Just a thought.

Thanks,
Jon Martin

Subject: filesystems and directories under the same name

Good morning everyone

I can across an problem with no idea of a resolution.
AIX TSM server 4.2

I had a filesystem called say /inbound/site
now they removed the filesystem but still needed the path....so
they have a filesystem called /inbound and created a sub directory called
site

When you try to do a restore via the command line it only finds the
filesystem data not the directory data
If I try to restore via X window or web I have to go through the filesystem
/inbound and to the subdirectory site

How can I get the data off the filesystem /inbound/site and in the directory
/inbound/site
I can'd restore the data and then back it up again...too much data and not
enough space on the server

Sorry to hit everyone in the morning with this...but I was trying to figure
this out all last night w/ no success

Thanks
