TSM 5.1 - RH 7.2 Linux client

Greetings,

First impression feedback from one of my customers " ... requiring the
installation of the API to get the baseline client to install is
wrong.  It's likely that I will never, ever, need anything else from the
API package."

[root@kodiak ~]# rpm -Fvh ~jgd/TIVsm-BA.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
         libApiDS.so is needed by TIVsm-BA-5.1.0-1

Can anyone out there supply a reason for this dependency?
