Yes, you can exclude them, especially on servers. I believe there has been some discussion on this that if you exclude these on a Workstation, depending on how it's setup etc. this mght not be the best idea to exclude them as the current user might loose something on a restore. If you look at the dsm.smp file as installed on client, it has a long section of excludes. I use that as standard on NT4.0 and
W2K machines with no problem. Yes, you can restore the registry. When you backup system objects, the registry is actually "copied" I believe to C:\adsm.sys folder and that is backed up. It's some kind of slight of hand or something they do, so don't exclude that!
