Kurt, OS400 uses TSM differently to normal clients, it works more like a TDP. On the AS400 you run BRMS or ROBOT/SAVE and use TSM as the backup storage mechanism. Backup data is controlled by the AS400 product and tsm just keeps it until told to expire the uniquely named file created by the interface.
This doesn't give you a whole lot of advantages, and the old clients were very slow. I understand then new client has addressed the performance problems. I do not have any experience with AS/400 so I want to be sure that the TSM client exists. The operating system is OS/400 version 4.2. Does a TSM client (5.1.x) exists for this OS? On the Tivoli website, they mention OS/400 5.1 and OS/400 as supported platforms for the 5.1.5 client, so I suppose it is fine but I wanna be sure.
