Yes, that will work fine. The only other thing you should do is check the MAXSCRATCH parameter for your primary tape pool. (q stgpool TAPEPOOLNAME f=d)
If you leave MAXSCRATCH set to a high number, TSM will start a new tape for each client. If you have more than 202 clients, all your tapes will be used up at once. In my case, I have MORE clients than I have slots in the library! So you can set MAXSCRATCh to a lower number and limit the tapes TSM will use. For example, if you have 100 clients and you set MAXSCRATCH to 50, TSM will put 2 clients per tape. You still get most of the benefits of collocation, but it limit the number of tapes that get used up. ************************************************************************ Wanda Prather The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab 443-778-8769 [EMAIL PROTECTED] "Intelligence has much less practical application than you'd think" - Scott Adams/Dilbert ************************************************************************ -----Original Message----- From: Elenara Geraldo [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2002 11:57 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Collocation question - Reduce restore times Hi all, Currently I don4t use collocation in my backup.
