Prevention is the desirable course, to never dispense with a tape until all its references have first been removed. To deal with the current situation: If 'DELete Volume VolName DISCARDdata=Yes' does not work, and 'RESTORE Volume' is not an option either, you might try doing a dsmlabel to create a surrogate volume with the original name and do the 'AUDit Volume' on that - I haven't tried such a thing, but it might be a worthy desperation step. There is also the unsupported deletion of TSM database records, but best not to go there if avoidable. Richard Sims, BU
