I"ve done that before (last time was at 3.7 or 4.1, can't remember). Just run through your disaster recovery drill twice!
The only gotcha is when you restore the back level copy of the data base, whether the tapes you need have been reclaimed/written over. That SHOULDN"T have happened if you have REUSEDELAY set appropriately on the storage pool.
