SunOS 5.8, Solaris 8 and Solaris 2.8 all refer to the same operating system.

As I have never had the slightest contact with this type of client server before I don't even know what to look for as far as clients go. When I went and looked at IBM for client requirements I found Sun Solaris 2.6, 7, or 8, but did not see anything for SunOS 5.8.
