TSM Community, Attention Flash IC36835 Customers running IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (ITSM) 5.1 and above who use the DSMSERV RESTORE DB and have their DB tape in either a 349x, ACSLS, or EXTRNAL library type. The current ITSM documentation for 5.1 and 5.2 has a note (chapter 22 in the Admin Guide) that says: To perform a DSMSERV RESTORE DB operation, the database backup volumes must be in a library of a library type of MANUAL or SCSI. That statement is incorrect and will cause you to perform unnecessary modifications to your operations. The statement will be modified via documentation apar IC36835. ITSM function has not changed between releases and DB volumes can be restored from a 349x, ACSLS, or External type library. Problem Resolution APAR IC36835 has been opened to document this error and future versions of the publications will be corrected. Additionally, APAR IC36836 has been opened to address a failure where the DSMSERV RESTORE DB with a lib type of EXTERNAL does not work correctly.
