Gerhard, dsmreconcile should attempt to reopen the session with the server if it times out during the course of its processing. The current behavior is certainly not working as designed and I'd recommend to open a PMR for this. As others have pointed out, the work-around is to adjust the server's session timeout (commtimeout) to match the time it takes to read the premig database, plus some additional buffer time.
