Running TSM 5.1.6.2 on Solaris 2.7 - SCSI Attached to an IBM 3494 library
with two 3590 H1A drives

Hi All

I have what is probably a very simply question, but then they all are when
you know the answers.

I have a need to back up a 50GB directory on one of our sun boxes to send
to our US office. The machine in question does not have a SCSI card
installed, so I was thinking of remotely mounting the dir onto our TSM
server and then copying it directly to one of the drives in our library.

Now, my question is this. If I put the library in manual mode, can I just
back up data directly to the device using the device special file name (
/dev/rmt/3stc for example).

I'm sorry again if this is a very simple question.

Many thanks
