TSM 5.2.x.x will not work on AIX 4.3.3.
What I however recently have done is: - put a new root disk into the
system (the TSM DB and LOG files are on other disks).
- install AIX 5.2 ML2 and
TSM 5.2.2 on that disk
- restore the dsmserv.dsk,
dsmserv.opt, volhist and devconfig files
- run dsmserv upgradedb
- hey presto it's running.

Subject: Migrateing TSM server
We currently run TSM Server Version 5, Release 1, Level 6.1 on AIX
4.3.3.
We have a replacement server running AIX 5.1.0.0 that I was going to
install TSM 5.1 onto then migrate our existing server to that, then
upgrade to 5.2. However, when I did a trial install it appeared to
require a bos.rte below 5.1 and in the install directory I see:
tivoli.tsm.devices.aix4 3.rte.5.1.0.0.I
So...........is it possible to install TSM 5.1 on AIX 5.1? Are they the
same across versions?
Alternative: Can I upgrade the existing 5.1 server to 5.2 on AIX 4.3.3,
then go about migrateing a TSM 5.2 server on AIX 4.3.3 to a TSM 5.2
server running AIX 5.1?
Alternative 2: can I install TSM 5.2 on the new server and migrate the
config files from the TSM 5.1 server?. Are they equivalent across
releases?
