Hello all,

I am attempting to setup a storage agent on Solaris.

To ensure I am defining the paths correctly, I need to identify which /dev/rmt/0st
etc.. device file on the solaris machine is pointed at which tape drive by WWN. In the
past I have been handed this info by a unix admin, this time I need to determine it
myself.

On AIX, I can do this easily with

Lsattr -El /dev/rmt0

But I am stuck as to how to get the same information from Solaris.

TSM Server 5.1.5.4, AIX

Storage Agent 5.1.5.4, Solaris

IBM Ultrium LTO1 drives.

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks,

Matthew.

                There were a couple reasoning...

                1) Too 3590E's to manage @ 40/80GB for 700+ Clients 80% Intel Windows
Based (@ 180 Act/Del Retention - I know insane)
                2) 3590E Drives are not capable of Fabricated loop with out a Bridge
in between.
                3) Still had depreciation on 3494 Libraries.

We make daily offsite copies, which is our saving grace if onsite tape
goes bad. So far we have moved approx 60TB of backup data using 2x3590 to 2x3592
Drives and only had one issues with a tape sticking in the 3590 Drive. The 3592's for
the past 2weeks have been rock solid so far...

We are starting to swap out more 3590 to 92's tomorrow on a different
backup server...

                Happy Holidays!

Not to get off of the subject, but what made you decide on the 3592
tape
configuration? My thoughts are, what if you lose 1 tape with 1TB of
data
on it and it didn't make the offsite copy yet? Also, have you had many
                problems with the 3592's? Thanks!

Not sure of the price Diff, but we are in the midst of 3590 > 3592's
and
the 3592's really rock. We are seeing 169GB an hour for our 3590 -
3592
Move data's(faster from 3592 to 3592) and our Unix Data is seeing tape
sizes from 900Gb toi 1 TB.

                I have a 3494 with Magstar tapes 3590 and I would like to use a 3584
with
LTO tapes . What do you think about this choice
(fiability,reliability..) .

                Kind regards
