I have always wondered about this but could not find a difinitve answer. Who controls/manages the 3590 tape drive cleaning, in a 3494, when the library is shared between z/OS/MVS and TSM on AIX and the drives used by the AIX system are FC attached and installed as "open systems" drives ?
I ask this since a recent perusal of the activity log of the AIX TSM server showed messages that said "tape drive needs to be cleaned" ?
