One thing I forgot to warn you about regarding groupwise restores. They're just about the worst possible scenario as far as slow restores go. Tons of small files, with high change rates (our PO's average about 25-33% turnover a day). So once you've been backing up for a couple months, your PO's get spread out over lots of tapes, which equals slow restores. There are ways to get around this if you've got tapes & library slots to burn, but I thought I'd mention it.
