The 3575 is a SCSI-attached library, and thus prone to all the vagaries which make SCSI as loved as it is. If you haven't checked your SCSI path for issues such as loose cable, bent pin(s), wrong terminator, etc. then that's worth doing. Given the age of the technology, it's possible that the SCSI adapter in the 3575 is having problems, as one customer experienced in the past. IBM nicely still provides the online manuals for the 357x technology, which is very helpful.
