Hi ! Actually, the DP for Was (Websphere) is a real B/A client Plug-in. So you need the Regular B/A client and the plug-in in order to use the Data Protection for WAS. The other case when you need the B/A client is when to use the Web Client (DP for Domino for example). In the 5.3 version, we can now use the Web Client to backup Domino...but we need a plug-in with the B/A client to allow this.
