Did the useless TapeAlerts mostly occur on a drive which was also used as a control port? (They did here.) You might want to look into the useless TapeAlert-problem, though. In my case, when a bunch of silly TapeAlerts occured there was a small chance of the LTO2 index becoming corrupt, resulting in bad performance with that tape (but no I/O-errors), and genuine TapeAlerts on that volume from then on. Not letting TSM report the TapeAlerts would only have masked the problem, since no hard errors occured.. -- Jurjen Oskam
