Not only that, but even if one wasn't required to license the ba client if using only the db agent, the next question is, are you *sure* you don't want to back up any flat files on the box? Don't forget that a database is more than the sum of it's data. There's usually flat file information that relates back to db configuration, etc. Frankly, I don't think it's wise to backup a db without backing up the rest of the system, anyways...

Paul

Hi Joe,
I am an IBM Business Partner and we resell Tivoli software. In order to be in compliance you will need to buy both B/A client and Tivoli for Mail licenses for that node. Remember you need to buy one for each processor as well. The reason for this is that the "Tivoli for *" products use the client API and that is licensed under the B/A client. Sorry, but that is the way the licensing is set up.
If you have any further question you may contact me directly and I will be glad to help you out.

Hello,
If I have an Exchange server, and I'm backing up only exchange database, no file backup; do I need TDP license plus server license, or just TDP license.
