Data from disk storage pools is restored before data from sequential storage pools. Otherwise there is no function within TSM to predicate the specific volume sequence.

TSM wants to recreate the directory structure first, which is most readily done in Unix, but will be done one way or the other (as in creating temporary surrogates, to get actual directory info later, when encountered in tapes, per Restore Order processing). And TSM is no fool, in seeking to restore files from the most efficient source, which is to say the highest level in the storage pool hierarchy, when the data is available there. It's not something you configure: it's part of the philosophy of the product.
