This was fixed in client level 5.3.0.0. In brief, the older client levels had a built-in EXCLUDE ?:\adsm.sys\...\*. Starting in 5.3, this was changed to an EXCLUDE.DIR for the adsm.sys directory in order to prevent it from traversing the directory at all.
