Do a "smitty sysback" -> TSM Configuration -> TSM Backup Management -> Remove a 
TSM Backup Image -> select your TSM virtual device .  You'll get a list of 
current backups.  Check to see if any are still open.  If so, select it ((Esc 
7)  and then press Enter to remove it.

Then retry your backup.
