I am not familiar with your tape library so I can't say for sure. But with our 3583, the 6- or 8- char labels are an option you set on the LIBRARY's front panel, not something you set in TSM. Look in the Operator's guide for your library.

I knew I forgot something :-( My TSM server is running on Windows 2003. Via smitty and some sub menu a had to change the 6 in 8 and ITSM could read the last 2. Unfortunately I couldn't find the thread anymore. I've got a "HP SureStore Tape Library C7200" with 2 "HP Ultrium 1" Drives. As the tapes are from a Legato Networker Environment they are labeled with 8 characters (FS.M1.01, FS.M1.02 ...). TSM reads the first 6 characters and therefore only accepts 1 volume. Is there a way to use this volumes with TSM 5.2.6.0 or should I relabel them with 6 characters? Thanks in advance Thomas Rupp
