From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Survoy, Bernard J >Looking for feedback on TSM server migrations from AIX to >Solaris (SPARC >based). Any issues, problems, special considerations?
About the same as almost any migration from one OS to another: You cannot just move the db volumes from one OS to another OS. The file structures between AIX (JFS or JFS2) is not recognized by Solaris. The best way to move a TSM server's contents from AIX to Solaris is to: 1. Build the Solaris server and attach it to its own library. 2. Point all TSM client to the new server. 3. Keep the data on the old TSM server online so that file restores can be done, and the data can expire over time. 4. When the old server's data has had time to significantly expire, perform a series of EXPORT NODE commands to move what data is left to the new server. The longer the old server is allow to lose data due to expiration, the shorter the export will be. -- Mark Stapleton ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) IBM Certified Advanced Deployment Professional Tivoli Storage Management Solutions 2005 IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert (CATE) AIX Berbee Information Networks Office 262.521.5627
