Joni, A backup of Oracle with the TDP will always allocate the channel ''sbt_tape" in the RMAN script. This channel uses the library of TSM you had to create a symbolic link for. That is how RMAN knows that the data must be sent to the TSM server. >From there on it is TSM that handles the data further on. The destination pool >in the (default) management class will be used. This can either be to disk or >tape and they will both use the channel 'sbt_tape' in the RMAN script. You can check the destination yourself with the command: show versions 'TSM node name Oracle TSP' *; Here you see the management class the backups are binded to. best regards, Kurt

And if so, how do you know it's going to tape and not the disk pool? I have defined a default management class for our TDPO domain which is supposed to go to our disk pool. I don't have a dbt_tape device class set up on my TSM server, so I am a little confused by the output that was received when they used the TDP client on the oracle server. Can anyone clarify how I can tell how the data was transferred in the below messages? It looks like it was using a tape drive, but I don't know how that's possible. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
