We have solved the problem. It turms out to be a bug in TSM
The problem was determined as a bug in TSM
which flagged the vaue ACS_TIMEOUTX=100 as invalid.
The value has been changed to 15 per TSM support
An APAR will be generated by TSM support

Whenever we try to do a tape operation
We have a StorageTEK SL8500
We are running TSM Ver 5.3.1.2 on AIX 5
We are running ACSLS between the TSM server and tape silo
We are also running two libraries as a result of a problem with StorageTek
drives
Thanks!
