This is an exploratory message just to reassure myself that I am thinking correctly.
We have tsm server v5.2.4 running under solaris 8. I would like to do a weekly reboot of the server, but during a time period of no activity. My logic is as follows: Have an administrative schedule check for processes and sessions. If no backup or restore sessions are active, and no processes running, halt the server. While this is going on, a cron job checks for the existance of the dsmserv process. When this process disappears, clear itself from crontab, and reboot. Does this sound correct? Also, is there a betterr way to check for a process than "ps -ef |grep process name"? Thanks for the help.
