Well, I have a 3584 that I have had nearly 4 years. Originally had (8) LTO1 drives and added (6) LTO2 drives over a year ago.
I remember this discussion some time back and some people had NEVER had a cleaning tape used and a few had problems and had used a bunch. I was in the never group back then. I just checked and my ORIGINAL cleaning cartridge has been used 8 times. I am now backing up about 1.5 TB per day and making offsite copies. David B. They are set to autoclean, and the cleaning tapes were imported using the front panel. So the library should be doing cleaning automatically. But when we check the status of the cleaning carts on the front panel, it shows 0 cleans have EVER been done. Now, I know that LTO drives don't need to be cleaned that often, and these libraries get less than 100GB per day moved. But TWO YEARS without a cleaning?!?
