Not sure about Windows configuration, but on Solaris I have path defined to a drive for library communication and then one for each drive configuration. The one for the library configuration will used one of the drives defined as the "Control Path".

This is picked automatically after you define a path to one or more of control paths in a fabric environment (if used). For UNIX control paths are defined as "2smc" along with 2st for example.
