Please share with the list if you find the solution for this. I've also seen this problem with one Win2K3 server. Played around with it for several hours before giving up. I never did open up a PMR with IBM because it wasn't all that important at the time.

Heck, the message is not even documented in the 5.3 Messages manual. (Try Help in your TSM 5.3 client to see if it's there.) My instinct on this would be to see if there's anything wrong with the C:\adsm.sys\ASR staging directory - maybe even a space issue. Maybe try deleting \adsm.sys entirely and see if a fresh backup works.
