Go to ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/storage/devdrvr/AIX and download the latest
Atape driver file. Install it with SMITTY INSTALL. Then
connect the library/drives to the pServer either via SCSI or Fibre, reboot or
run cfgmgr and you will see the /dev/rmtX's for each
drive and then /dev/smc0 as the library. This is the DEVICE= you use to define
the path to TSM.
You can download the Installation and User's Guide (IUG) from
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/storage/devdrvr/Doc.

Subject: 3584 installation instructions

I'll be receiving a 3584 this week and since I'm not real familiar with how
that guy connects to the RS/6000 I was wondering if
someone has setup instructions that define this library to AIX. Our current
3494 is direct serial attached and I'm curious if this
is the same or not. If anyone has saved steps to attach the unit to the server
and define within AIX I would truly appreciate any
insight.

Thanks for the help,

Geoff Gill
