Hi,

If the data is important enough to archive it, I would insist on a
second copy of that data. Even so, I would implement a refresh schedule
for that data, so no tape is left unused for more than a year.

But, It's just me.

Regards,

Karel

If you delete the files in a primary storage pool from the TSM DB, the
copy pool version is deleted as well.

Simple solution:

Let the data migrate from your archive disk pool to an archive tape pool
(primary), and send those tapes offsite.
DRM doesn't support vault management of primary tape pools, but
Autovault does.
You can also set up do-it-yourself scripts. (But it's cheaper just to
buy Autovault.)

Subject: Archive to Offsite Tape

All,

I am sketching out my plan for running an archive session, I want to
move the data to off-site tape and not keep any of the data in a primary
storage pool. My hope is to conserve space on my tape library for
regular backup data.

Here is my game-plan and my problem:

1. Data goes to the archivepool (disk)

2. Data gets backed up to archivecopypool (tape) and the tapes are
removed from the library.

3. Now what do I do with the data in archivepool? I don't want to
migrate it anywhere. I am satisfied with the copy that I have on the
archivecopypool.
What do I need to do to dump the data so that my archivepool is
available for the next archive session?

Thanks,

Sincerely,
Robert N. Jones
