Adam, We are use TSM Extended Edition(not TSM DRP). Our setup is as follows with Content Mgr. You are correct, CM controls the data retention. I believe even if you want to keep the data longer in TSM, and CM already deleted the data, you would not be able to restore the data without the pointers in CM.
