I have a Windows 2003 File Server Situated 300km's away that requires
backing up. We have a 512kb digi-net line to them.
We were using a "Tacit" (sic) server to replicate between that site and
our data centre and in turn backed up the data centre version using TSM.

"Tacit" is not up to scratch, and would like to consider the following:

1. Place a Tape Device at the remote site. (not sure where it would
connect
perhaps to a Linux,Aix, Windows device)
2. Use TSM at our Data Centre to manage the Client Schedule and backups.

Obviously there would be traffic across the digitnet line, but this

should be limited to file and directory information only. A major
limitation is the cost of bandwidth in South Africa

Do you think that this is a do-able solution or does anyone have a cost
effective suggestion/s

Thanks in advance.
