For ongoing retetion tasks, setup a COPY type backup. To freeze all the backups you have at present, the easiest way is to rename the node (e.g. MAIL01 to MAIL01_FREEZE) and redefine the old nodename. Make sure anything you want to keep is bound to a mgmtclass with everything set to noexpire. So if this is data from 4/22 or 4/25, how do I convert that to Backupset from normal client backup? -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of David E Ehresman Sent: Wednesday, May 09, 2007 12:27 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ADSM-L] Keeping a backup copy Is this a request for data as it is now to be kept indefinitely? If so, you could make a backupset. If it is an onging request, you'd need to set up a new mgmtclass. david >>> "Bell, Charles (Chip)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 5/9/2007 1:14 PM >>> Question from our Exchange admin. Is there a way to keep a backup of an Exchange Information Store for however long he needs it? It is in a domain that is set up for 14-day retention. I told him that I didn't think there was anything I could do but halt expiration for the whole enterprise, which would be ridiculous. So... :-) God bless you!!!
