Thanks. I saw that document.  I am installed 5.4.  Was hoping that it
would handle it.

Oh well.......so much for that idea.   Will just stick to RAID-1 for the
DB and RAID-5 for the LZ.

this is from 5.3.2 Readme

See the following sections for information on installing Tivoli Storage
Manager in a Linux environment. The following features are not
supported:
*  Generic tape
*  Raw logical volumes

IMHO nothing new in 5.4.x
