Here's a question, other than better running software what does the person/company get for all this free testing work they provide IBM?
The reason I ask is that years ago, pre OS/2 Warp 4. I participated in the beta for OS/2, provided feedback, tested features, etc., only to be told I'd have to pay for the full copy when it was released. I ceased running OS/2, as did everyone else in the beta program, and I've never had the urge to "participate" in an IBM beta again. IBM Tivoli is going to be running a TSM beta program and is interested in obtaining participants to validate new features. This program is open to world wide IBM Tivoli Storage customers and Business Partners. We are looking for participants who are willing and able to actively participate in the beta program by providing feedback on their testing progress and product satisfaction through conference calls and beta surveys. The program will begin in the March 2008 timeframe running through November 2008. The beta program will be testing the following new enhancements: Significant Scalability, Availability and Performance Enhancements ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- - Major upgrade to the TSM relational database will result in significant increases in TSM Server scalability, availability and performance. The changes will allow TSM to run more concurrent operations, store more objects, manage more data and have a larger maximum database size. You'll now be able to run On-line, automated reorganization of the TSM database and have real-time database integrity validation. - Data Deduplication in TSM will make better use of your investment in storage, allowing you to store more data on disk for fast access by reducing the storage of redundant data. Time to Value -------------------- - An improved administrative experience with a faster installing, better performing, smaller footprint Administration Center. More intuitive navigation for client tasks with a new global client node view and fast path to client node creation - All New Out of the Box Reporting and Monitoring - TSM will provide new operational and historical reporting and monitoring capabilities. This capability will provide new features such as graphical representation of trends and current status, the ability to scale to allow management of many servers within an enterprise, and customizable reports in multiple formats such as HTML, PDF and CSV that will be available over the Web or via e-mail. Built on common IBM/Tivoli reporting components, customers will be enabled to provide their own additional custom reports, and perhaps most importantly, it will provide the benefit of enabling customers to begin to provide integrated end to end monitoring and reporting across their IT infrastructure and not just of their storage environment To be considered for participation in this upcoming IBM Tivoli Storage Manager beta program, please contact Mary Anne Filosa ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). - Prior to completing a beta program nomination online, candidates will be directed to signoff on a confidentiality disclosure agreement on the beta website.
