Forgive my ignorance about that number, but some numbers once set stay that way until they are reset. Is this one of them? I'm thinking that maybe at some point in the past there were 8 failures even though recently there haven't been any.
Like I say, there's a lot I'm still picking up on here, so I thought I'd ask. It happens only once every couple of days. TSM Server 5.3.5.0 on AIX 5.3-04 tsm: XXXX13>select * from summary where activity='STGPOOL BACKUP' and entity='BACKPOOL -> COPYTAPE' and failed >0 START_TIME: 2008-02-12 15:41:31.000000 END_TIME: 2008-02-12 16:02:15.000000 ACTIVITY: STGPOOL BACKUP NUMBER: 8522 ENTITY: BACKPOOL -> COPYTAPE COMMMETH: ADDRESS: SCHEDULE_NAME: EXAMINED: 252759 AFFECTED: 252759 FAILED: 8 BYTES: 13848756224 IDLE: 0 MEDIAW: 17 PROCESSES: 2 SUCCESSFUL: YES VOLUME_NAME: DRIVE_NAME: LIBRARY_NAME: LAST_USE: COMM_WAIT: 0 NUM_OFFSITE_VOLS: 8 failed objects on backups stg of BACKPOOL to COPYTAPE in summary record, but actlog shows 12-02-2008 16:02:15 ANR1214I Backup of primary storage pool BACKPOOL to copy storage pool COPYTAPE has ended. Files Backed Up: 252759, Bytes Backed Up: 13848756224, Unreadable Files: 0, Unreadable Bytes: 0. (SESSION: 1679220) This is perplexing. There are no other relevant messages in actlog. I ran a backup stg again manually, and all files were copied as reported in foreground message and in summary table. I also ran q content copied=no on all the volumes in the source storage pool and that came up empty. Any ideas as to where to go next? Tech support search shows nothing relevant. Thanks Steve.
