Actually, I should have said "move the data from one tape to another" using the move data command. Unless you bring the DR tapes back, you won't be able to do that for the DR tapes. You can regenerate DR tapes by deleting them and then running a backup stg command to regenerate them. Careful there. You'll want to time that correctly so you have a db backup tape that knows about those tapes until they are regenerated.
Or don't worry about this at all and it will get taken care of over time by reclamation. TSM Server version: 5.5 Tape Library: HP MSL6060 with latest drivers and firmware updates. 4 Tape Drives: HP Ultrium 04 1840 Operating system: Windows 2003 R2 SP2 Tape Cartridge: LTO4 1.6TB compressed Hardware tape compression was not turned on at the tape drives. I have numerous tapes that are marked 100% FULL and are only half full if they were compressed. I have since turned on hardware compression and all newly used tapes are being compressed. I need to know if there is any way to compress the tapes already marked FULL in my Onsite and Offsite Tape Copy Pools. Thank you. Dave Hensley Technical Analyst McNeilus Companies, Inc.
