Found the opt file: Hostname\d$\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\SharePoint\DocAve4\VaultServer\DocAveMedia\dsm
More info-- when I double checked the service account id, I found that it WAS NOT an admin for the SQL box. I can now browse the sites! However, I am still confused... what option file does the TDP for SharePoint use? The baclient\dsm.opt? the same one that the OS uses How can I assign a mc to the objects created by TSM for SharePoint? -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Laughlin, Lisa Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2008 8:48 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ADSM-L] TSM for SharePoint (DocAve) Hi Guido, Brand new VM, purposed solely as the Media Server & the DocAve Server; TSM baclient level 5.5.1.0, with the DocAve version of 4.5.3 incr works fine. DocAve Client installed on SharePoint server. Installed from CD & following the IBM OEM instructions-- the install seems to be done correctly. I have an Active Directory service account set up and all the tests return okay. The service account is a Farm Admin, and in the local Administrators group on the DocAve Media Server, the SQL box & the SharePoint box. But-- I ran a Site backup, which said it ran successfully, with 0MBs backed up. I am unclear on how TSM fits into the mix. Do I have to set up local DASD storage for the Media Server and then does the baclient do the backup at the OS level? The only references to "TSM" I can find in the documentation is how to set up the management class, and to have nodename defined on TSM server and that TSM has index files on the local Media Server file system. It is silent on whether I have to set up a network share on the DocAve Client to backup to the Media Server & how I should configure the storage settings on the Media Server. It talks about what I can do, but not what I must do to set it up correctly for TSM. I have found some documentation by IBM's Dave Daun-- it is a PowerPoint presentation that's helpful. From what I can tell the IBM OEM documentation is the Control Panel Module and the Data Protection Module out of DocAve's User Guide. I also found some documentation on the IBM DS4000 & DocAve that is helpful also, but in the sum I am still pretty much in the dark. I have error messages that won't let me browse the site too: Erroring: id[6228_1224105784709] message[com.avepoint.docave.sp.service.ServiceException: Back end error:SP2007 Browsing failed:Exception:String reference not set to an instance of a String. I am attempting to backup subsites, and other items that will not lock up production (did I mention this is production-- we don't currently have a test/dev SharePoint set up), but I am missing some essential ingredient. thanks! lisa -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Guido van Brakel Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2008 4:51 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ADSM-L] TSM for SharePoint (DocAve) Hi Lisa, What are the issues you are experiencing? Keeps these things in mind before installation: * If installing the DocAve server package on a system where a TSM client earlier than level 5.4.0.2 is already installed, all TSM clients and client services (such as the TSM scheduler service) must be stopped to allow the installation and configuration of the DocAve connection to TSM to complete successfully.
