I tried a bit to contact Harry Redl, evident source of the existing
.debs on adsm.org,

http://adsm.org/files/TSM/Clients/Linux/Debian/

about this question. However he's cleverly arranged it so that his
email address (gleaned from the archives here) goes nowhere. Harry,
if you're out there, Hiya! :)

I'm interested in getting together some .debs for more recent client
versions, and fixing some errors introduced when the extant debs are
installed on a more recent ubuntu. (shell and java dependencies, etc)

I'm also interested in a HOWTO for this process, so that the person
who wants to do it after -I- lose interest in maintaining it, will
just be able to pick up where I left off.

Anybody already in the habit of translating RPMs to debs, before I go
rediscover the wheel?
