How does one backs up a non Windows OS in a VMware environment? The TSM client (5.5.1) in the VCB explicitly states that the BACKUP VM command will only backup a Window OS. Would one install the appropriate TSM client inside the VM and schedule the VM directly? Any other options?
Hi, I guess it should be possible in theory to have file level incremental backups of Linux and Solaris in VMware, but no solution I know can actually do it. With VMware 4, which is about to be released, it will be possible to make block level incremental backups of your VMDK. Now I know it's not the same as a fie level incremental. Also I know that StorServer will by that about time have their VCB agent updated to take advantage of that possibility (Kelly?). -- Met vriendelijke groeten/Kind regards Remco Post [email protected] +31 6 24821 622
