Yes, I did install Debian's "Default-JDK" package. 
Maybe I should also install JRE?

Do you have java installed on your Debian system?

I had a similar problem on Novell SLES10: at one point the installation process
tried to run "java" (without any explicit path), which didn't work until I
installed java before installing ISC.
