Ah, I must have missed the part when you needed to read it outside of TSM. You probably just want to restore the files to a temporary location then burn them to a DVD or tar them straight to a tape

Are you unnecessarily limiting yourself by specifying 'tape' here? Does TSM need to have anything to do with this? Is it viable simply to get these files (how many? what size in total?) and copy them to a safe Windows PC with a DVD drive/writer and send them out on a DVD instead? /DMc -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mario Behring Sent: 03 April 2009 21:15 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ADSM-L] Backup files to empty tape That´s right...but, how can I assure that this data will be readable somewhere else, without TSM? "export node" or "generate backupset" will put files on the tape and keep them out of the typical storage pool heirarchy Regards, Shawn ________________________________________________ Shawn Drew Internet [email protected] Sent by: [email protected] 04/01/2009 02:23 PM Please respond to [email protected] To ADSM-L cc Subject [ADSM-L] Backup files to empty tape Hi list, I have to backup some files from a TSM node to an empty tape and send this tape away (check out from the library).
