The DroboPro has ethernet, but the protocol is iSCSI (block-level) as opposed to a file-level protocol (CIFS/NFS) So it's not a NAS, even though it is technically "network attached storage"
The "DroboShare" is the product that will turn a Drobo into a NAS, but it doesn't look like it works with the DroboPro. (Only the older Drobo's) The DroboShare doesn't advertise support for NDMP, but they do allow 3rd party development, so there may be an app-for-that somewhere (but probably not) Regards, Shawn ________________________________________________ Shawn Drew Internet [email protected] Sent by: [email protected] 11/04/2009 01:52 PM Please respond to [email protected] To ADSM-L cc Subject [ADSM-L] DROBOPRO Storage Device Hi All, Does anyone have any experience with a NAS product by Data Robotics Inc called DroboPro? If so, can you tell me if it can be backed up and whether it supports NDMP? I know I could ask the vendor, but I tend to think that most vendors will say their products can do anything so I am requesting an independent assessment. Thanks much!
